- A Bachelor’s degree required
- At least 3 years of full-time teaching experience with proficient result
Preferred
- Masters Degree

Compensation and Benefits
- Year-round position with annual salary based on experience ranging from $71,000 - $87,000

Your Mission
As a Compass Rose Assistant Principal, you are a campus leader and ed reformer with a relentless commitment to fostering a school environment of high expectations and support for students. You will manage, coach, and develop teachers to achieve bold results with students. You will support the development of systems and protocols to ensure that academic achievement and school culture consistently reflect the core values and academic goals of Compass Rose.
Your Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Assist in the formulation of campus goals and objectives addressing the needs of students
- Hold high expectations for self and others
- Lead instructional team to achieve measurable and ambitious results
- Lead instructional team to improve their teaching quickly and measurably through daily observations, on-the-spot coaching, data conversations, and effective evaluations
- Supervise the implementation of Compass Rose curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations
- Review teachers’ weekly lesson plans and provide feedback
- Synthesize, analyze, and prioritize data and opportunities to develop strategies that achieve quantifiable goals
- Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve teacher development, student achievement, and manage work-related tasks
- Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions
- Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development
- Minimum of 40 hours spent at school per week
- Attend student recruitment initiatives
- Additional responsibilities may include after-school tutoring, or Saturday school and are based on the needs of our students
School and Network Improvement
- Plan, participate, and/or lead professional development sessions for team members
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve and consistently reflect on past actions to guide future decisions
- Use data-driven approaches frequently and consistently to improve student learning outcomes
- Help principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain records to track progress on campus performance objectives
School Culture
- Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission, core values, and core habits of the school district
- Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student
- Coordinate clear and consistent behavior management systems school-wide that recognize positive student behavior and restorative practices
- Support the development of students’ character and sense of community
Community and Family Engagement
- Communicate students’ progress with student and family
- Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify
- participate actively in a minimum number of student recruitment events annually (as determined and network and school guidance).
Operations, Fiscal, and Facilities Management
- Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and sub coverages
- Plan and lead morning drop offs, afternoon pickups, and recess and lunch monitoring
- Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with the registrar on follow-up investigations and calls
- Work with the Business Clerk to request supplies, textbooks, equipment; check inventory; maintain records; and verify receipts for materials.
- Assist with safety inspections and safety-drill practice activities
People First Management
- Manage a team of teachers and paraprofessionals
- Champion and model Compass Rose core values and habits in adult culture
- Champion and model Compass Rose’s talent philosophies
- Coach team members to build technical capacity
- Select, onboard, evaluate, and engage talent in the right roles
- Coach and develop team members on performance frameworks via 1:1 check-ins and frequent observations and feedback sessions
- Fully engage in the True North Performance and Development cycle
- Set clear, rigorous and achievable goals and expectations with each team members
- Identify supports needed for team members reach success
Your schedule
- Year-round position with general operating day hours of 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- after-hours events and communications will be required
- Full time, Non-exempt, 12- months
