Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant Duties and Responsibilities
(Non-Supervisory)
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer and Supervised by Medical Director
Status: Exempt
FT, PT, PRN: PT/FT
Shift: First/Day (Mon.-Fri.)
On Call Rotation: N/A
Location: Burnsville
Practice: Palliative Care
Position Summary:
Works under the direction of a CCWNC physician to developing a treatment plan and administering treatment to clients. Interprets both routine and complex diagnoses and delivers the diagnoses to clients and families compassionately and understandably.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with physicians, internal staff, hospital staff, and patients;
- Perform complex calculations on a regular basis and communicate effectively the data to others;
- Analyze complex data/information to effectively treat clients;
- Interpret routine communication to determine effective treatment plan;
- Provide consultations and management of symptoms related to life-limiting conditions;
- Appropriately accommodate the needs of patients and co-workers;
- Educate providers in the community on Palliative Care and Hospice services, and end of life issues;
- Serves as clinical resource for nursing staff;
- Participates in clinical call rotation;
- Work independently without direct management yet accept and seek direction when and as needed;
- Be able to express and support a professional position different than that of others;
- Participation in Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) and education of providers as needed;
- Providing support across the continuum of care is expected;
- Comply with company policies, procedures, guidelines, and Mission Statement; and
- Performs other, yet similar, duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
§ Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant program. Masters’ degree and clinical rotation, preferred.
Experience:
§ Minimum 2 years experience as a NP in a clinic or outpatient setting
Degrees, Licensures & Certifications: (if applicable)
§ Masters’ degree, preferred;
§ Current NP or PA Board Approved Certification;
§ Current NC Medical License in good standing;
§ Current DEA Registration in good standing;
§ Valid Malpractice Insurance, required; and
§ Valid NC Drivers’ License and automobile insurance, required.
Physical Demands:
§ Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form;
§ Visual and auditory ability necessary to perform patient care;
§ Physical dexterity necessary to perform variety of nursing skills in delivery of care;
§ Ability to handle and transfer patients safely; and
§ Ability to transport self and laptop to administrative offices and patient locations.
