What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Care Attendant (PCA) position at Compassionate Hearts?
Compassionate Hearts is looking for individuals that are willing to work and be hired immediately. The Personal Care Attendant must have a high school diploma or the equivalent and one or more years’ experience in working with adults in a caregiving setting. The PCA will be required to attend on the job training. The following are duties of the Personal Care Attendant:
Duties may include:
- providing personal care and assistance to participants; working with other staff members as required in implementing and carrying out services and activities and in meeting the needs of individual participants; and
- assisting with transportation of and escorting participants to, from, and within the facility, if appropriate.
- Provide companionship by talking to, playing games with, or going for walks with clients
- Help clients with tasks related to hygiene, such as bathing, brushing teeth, and going to the bathroom
- Help transfer clients from a bed to a wheelchair or vice versa
- Complete housekeeping tasks, such as changing bed linens, washing dishes, and cleaning living areas
- Help prepare and plan meals
- Organize a client’s schedule and plan appointments
- Arrange transportation to doctors’ offices or to the store
- Help clients pay bills or manage money
- Shop for personal items and groceries
