Director of Solutions Architecture

The Head of Solutions Architecture is our leader in designing our technical offerings of the future. The Solutions Architecture team has accountability for designing solutions that meet the client's needs, within their budget while assuring the project is scoped for success within the standards of the organization so our managed services team can support the new technology post-cutover. The SA team is expected to have the knowledge and experience to be the subject matter experts for our advanced projects while also staying current with the marketplace on new technologies, including better ways to deploy our existing technologies. We are looking for an experienced Solutions Architect/Team Lead to join our Professional Services team. This role is critical in identifying and designing technology solutions that align with our clients' future goals and business needs, while ensuring profitability. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a keen understanding of business strategy, and experience working closely with sales, regional VPs, and vCIOs to deliver solutions that meet both client expectations and our financial objectives. The ideal candidate will have a robust technical background, a proven track record in architecture design, and the capability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. Leader Responsibilities: Coach, mentor, and guide the team for growth and success centered around clear expectations and empowerment. Understand team goals, KPI’s, and workflow to align the team to succeed. Be the team’s ambassador for all initiatives, responsibilities, and communication. Not only aid in directing the right work to the right teammate but empower and train them to identify and do this without supervision. Be an escalation resource to the team by identifying who is the right resource and assisting with proper handoffs. Foster teamwork and provide development opportunities and performance feedback to all direct reports. Be a working manager helping the team move daily tasks forward. Ability to lead and motivate project teams, driving accountability and delivering results. Solution Architect Responsibilities: Work closely with sales teams, regional VPs, and vCIOs to understand clients’ business objectives and technology needs, ensuring that solutions are tailored to meet their future goals. Architect and design comprehensive technology solutions including IT infrastructure, cloud environments, and networking. Ensure that solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with client requirements. Build out the team and establish a framework that supports efficient delivery of technology solutions. Develop processes and standards to ensure consistent quality and effectiveness. Create detailed scopes of work, including technical requirements, resource needs, and project timelines, ensuring clarity and completeness. Work closely with internal teams, including project managers and engineering teams, to ensure that solutions are implemented according to design and within budget. Collaborate with sales teams to develop pricing strategies that balance client value with profitability. Accurately estimate costs and manage budgets for solution implementation. Partner with the sales team to articulate the value of proposed solutions to clients, assisting in securing deals and providing technical expertise during the sales process. Work closely with project managers, engineering teams, and other internal stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of solutions and adherence to project specifications. Manage relationships with technology vendors to ensure the use of best-in-class products and services in solution design. Stay informed about the latest technology trends and advancements, and continuously seek ways to enhance our service offerings and internal processes. Qualifications: 10+ years in technical roles with at least 5 years as a Solutions Architect, including experience in infrastructure design within an MSP environment. Previous experience designing, deploying, and continuously improving a Solutions Architecture business unit required. Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, networking, and cybersecurity. Hands-on experience with architecture design and implementation. 5+ years of direct leadership managing a minimum of 3 people Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team, with experience in building out teams and frameworks to support technology solutions. Strong understanding of business strategy and financial principles, with the ability to design solutions that are both technically sound and financially viable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders and lead a team. Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent are preferred.
