What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Systems Engineer position at CompassMSP?
The Project Systems Engineer will work on challenging technical projects as well as serve as an escalation point for Deployment Tech’s and Tier 1 Engineers. The successful candidate will be highly technical and a natural troubleshooter and leader with great customer service instincts.
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Professional Services team. This role requires a strong IT background to understand and address technical challenges. The ideal candidate will be adept at executing projects assigned in alignment with our CompassMSP processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Proficiently manage multiple tasks of varying size and complexity across diverse client infrastructures
Design and implement server setups, including hardware configuration, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage solutions
Configure virtualized environments using platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V to optimize system performance
Handle configuration tasks related to storage solutions within on-premise infrastructures
Expertise in configuring Microsoft infrastructures, encompassing applications like Windows Server, Exchange Server, SQL Server, and Office 365
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain third-party software solutions such as Datto, Shadow Protect, StorageCraft, Veaam, and ESET
Design, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructures, with experience in Cisco IOS firewalls, routers, and switches, HP/Aruba switching (Layer 2 & 3), and Unifi switching and wireless
Train other teammates on skills, tools, and procedures to keep the project engineering on the cutting edge of Professional Services
Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting firewall technologies, including site-to-site VPNs, security services, QoS, high availability, and routing. Familiarity with SonicWall and Fortinet preferred
Provide escalation assistance, coaching, and training to team members to enhance overall performance and skill development
Flexible schedule availability to accommodate varying work hours, including after-hours support when required
Qualifications:
Possess a minimum of 10+ years of hands-on experience in an engineering role, equipped to tackle diverse challenges
Preferred certifications such as A+, Network+, MCSE, Office 365, VCP, CCNA, and Azure are highly regarded
Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider or Consulting environment is preferred
Proficiency with systems like ConnectWise and IT Glue is advantageous for seamless operations
