CNC Operator Job Description & Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude and experience with CNC machinery. This role is crucial in ensuring high-quality production and efficiency in our operations. As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts according to specifications.
Duties
- The primary function of the Machinist is to provide a quality part out of raw material, based upon the drawing specifications and CNC program provided by the programming department. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Build efficient parts by following set-up sheets and designated programs for part being built. Follow guidelines of proper protocol on how parts need to be “machined”
- Ensure part is being built to drawing, by validating dimensions using inspection equipment and proper measuring techniques designated by Quality Department. Filling out Manufacturing In-process Inspection Plans.
- Set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring they are functioning correctly throughout the production process.
- Read and interpret technical drawings to determine specifications and machining requirements.
- Utilize programming to create and modify programs for CNC operations.
- Conduct regular inspections of finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Assemble components as needed using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Operate forklifts and other factory equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize production processes and resolve any issues that arise.
Experience
- Proven experience as a CNC Operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot machinery issues effectively.
- Familiarity with logic controllers and their application in CNC operations.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding technical specifications.
- Experience with machining processes, including milling, turning, and grinding.
- Knowledge of factory safety protocols and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
