We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Patient Access Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the patient access team at our state-of- the-art, free standing emergency room. In this role, you will ensure that all aspects of patient intake, registration, and billing processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
At Complete Care, you will lead a team of patient access representatives, while also ensuring a high level of customer service, compliance with hospital policies, and adherence to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage the patient access team, providing guidance and training to ensure proper registration procedures and protocols are followed.
- Oversee the intake process for emergency room patients, including verifying insurance information, gathering necessary documentation, and ensuring proper patient identification.
- Maintain accurate records of all patient interactions, registration details, and insurance information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to patient access and billing, including HIPAA.
- Handle patient inquiries and resolve issues or concerns, ensuring excellent customer service and communication.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure a smooth flow of patient information and coordination of services.
- Assist in scheduling, training, and evaluating patient access staff performance.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient access and workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with insurance companies, billing departments, and third-party vendors to resolve patient billing issues and discrepancies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of patient access policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a healthcare or emergency room setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of patient access processes, insurance verification, and billing procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and patient registration software.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve goals and deliver exceptional service.
- Customer-focused with a strong commitment to improving the patient experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a Free Standing Emergency Room or Emergency Department setting.
- Associate’s degree or higher in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
