The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing ancillary staff across multiple dermatology practice locations. In conjunction with the practicing physicians and general manager, the CNS is responsible for all aspects of staff supervision including recruiting, onboarding, training, mentoring, evaluating, disciplining, and developing staff. As a part of this, he/she is responsible for the development and implementation of a continuous improvement and compliance program for all clinical processes performed by the ancillary staff. This supervisor would be responsible for the supervision of Medical Assistants (MAs), ensuring high-quality patient care, maintaining compliance with clinical protocols, and facilitating effective communication among staff. The supervisor will also engage in direct patient care as necessary to support clinical functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Supervise and mentor Medical Assistants in a positive and constructive manner to promote high quality patient care while also fostering employee job satisfaction.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a system for compliance with clinical protocols that are consistent with physician-defined processes, as well as regulatory bodies (OSHA, HIPAA, as examples).
  • Develop and implement a hiring strategy to include onboarding, training and mentorship that positions new employees for success.
  • With the assistance from physicians and the medical director, develop and disseminate educational and quality improvement methods in clinical practice for ancillary staff. Identify programs and resources to optimize patient outcomes and foster organizational success.
  • Identify and address deficiencies in staff performance, approaching it from a constructive standpoint, but also taking disciplinary measures when necessary.

Clinical Operations Management

  • Establish best practices for support procedures and implement continuous improvement and ongoing management processes to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Oversee daily clinical functions to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Implement and monitor compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.​
  • Coordinate clinical services across multiple locations to maintain consistency and quality.​
  • Ensure facilities and equipment maintained and fully functional to support patient care. Identify and facilitate resolution to issues with the support of administrative staff, IT, and management.

Patient Care

  • Assist in direct patient care activities, including performing or coordinating pre-operative calls/activities, performing and/or supervising specific procedures.
  • Address patient concerns and ensure a high level of patient satisfaction.

Quality Improvement

  • Act as a key conduit of communication with the physician/clinician to ensure that ancillary support is effective in supporting optimal patient care.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.​
  • Monitor clinical performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.​

Collaboration

  • Work closely with physicians, administrative staff, and other healthcare professionals to enhance patient care and clinic operations.​
  • Serve as a nonbiased liaison between staff and leadership to improve communication and resolve conflicts.
  • Promote and facilitate effective communication among staff.
  • Champion teamwork with the clinics and identify activities or initiatives that foster a positive work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.​

Licensure/Certification: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.​

Skills:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Ability to effectively lead a team of medical assistants, delegate responsibilities, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Clinical Expertise: Strong knowledge of patient care protocols and the ability to provide hands-on guidance to staff. Training will be provided in Dermatology specific care.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and physicians to ensure smooth clinic operations and high patient satisfaction.
  • Time Management & Multitasking: Ability to oversee multiple locations, prioritize tasks, and ensure efficient workflow across all sites.
  • Practice Management: Basic understanding of the various components of practice management that affect clinical care including insurance/referrals/prior authorizations and scheduling.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Policy Implementation: Knowledge of healthcare regulations, infection control procedures, and the ability to implement policy updates within the practice.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Ability to assess clinical issues, implement solutions, and make informed decisions that improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and ability to train staff on documentation best practices.
  • Conflict Resolution: Strong ability to mediate staff conflicts and foster a positive work environment.
  • Patient Advocacy & Customer Service: Commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
