What are the responsibilities and job description for the Steel Rule Diemaker (CAD) position at Complete Labor and Staffing?
Complete Labor & Staffing a Steel Rule Diemaker to construct and repair steel rule dies used in manufacturing while also contributing to the design and production of new products. This role involves working closely with customers, production teams, and design personnel to ensure quality control and efficiency from concept to full production. The ideal candidate will have experience with die assembly, CAD systems, and a background in packaging design.
Position Type: Temp-to-hire
Hourly Rate: $20-25 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble die boards, bend steel rules using hand and auto benders, insert steel rules into jigged die boards, and apply knicks and rubber for proper ejection during press runs.
- Introduce new product designs, manage development from concept to production, and incorporate die-making, die-cutting, and gluing requirements.
- Prepare final die designs using CAD programs and plotters, create vinyl for die-cutting, and tape it into position on printed sheets.
- Establish job direction through customer contact, resolve issues, provide in-house layouts, and confirm machine compatibilities.
- Provide samples, drawings, job specifications, and suggestions to assist with the estimating process.
- Interact with production personnel to identify and rectify problem jobs, ensure quality control, and provide graphic alterations as needed.
- Maintain scheduling for in-house and external die needs, manage sample follow-ups, and ensure workflow efficiency.
- Maintain CAD Room computer and file integrity, order department supplies, and keep tools and equipment in good condition.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years in packaging design; printing and graphics background helpful.
- Advanced computer literacy, including CAD and mechanical design systems; ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
- High level of precision and dexterity with hand tools and design tasks.
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 40 lbs, sit and walk for most of the shift, and work near mechanical parts.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and provide solutions for production issues.
