What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Hero Support Staff position at Completely KIDS?
General Summary:
The Camp Hero Summer Camp Staff has the overall responsibility for the direct service delivery of the summer program, Camp Hero. Camp Staff are assigned to work with youth ages Kindergarten – 6th grade. Camp Hero is designed for students with special needs (i.e. students with emotional behavioral difficulties and students with Autism). If you have a desire or experience working with youth with special needs, you may be a great fit for this role. The ratio is one staff for every 6 children.
Schedule:
M-F 8 hours per day between the hours of 7am and 5:30pm beginning May-July.
Pay:
$15.50hr
Essential Job Functions:
Supervision of Children
Move through classroom and other spaces such as field trips to effectively interact with youth.
Consistent repositioning self in order to maintain supervision of all youth at all times.
Maintain daily schedule in a timely manner, staying on task and completing all activities and lesson plans.
Monitor assigned group at all times, never leaving youth unattended.
Education of Children
Teach daily social and emotional, academic and enrichment lessons to a group of up to 6 youth per staff member
Develop and implement daily lesson plans for social and emotional and enrichment activities.
Work with colleagues and coordinator to individualize lessons based on the special needs of students.
Identify youth in need of additional social, emotional, and behavioral support
Behavioral Intervention
Teach and counsel youth on social and emotional skills and positive behaviors.
Approach behaviors through a positive, strengths-based and trauma informed lens
Serve as a role model for youth by exhibiting skills taught in program.
Set appropriate boundaries with youth.
Safety
Report concerns about youth safety according to agency policy and procedures.
Follow schedule and ensure structured activities are safe.
Maintains appropriate confidentiality and boundaries at all times.
Strictly enforces sign in/out policy for youth in program.
Parent/Guardian Daily Interaction
Effectively communicate with parents/guardians daily (in verbal and written form) information regarding the program that is critical to the care of their children including, but not limited to:
Positive Feedback on children
Issues of Concern
Event Information
Pre and Post Surveys
Program Cancellations
Resources for further intervention
Communicate with Program Coordinator parent/guardian requests and concerns within 1 day of receiving them
Community Awareness
Develop respectful relationships with persons from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Required of this positions:
At least one year of experience working with youth with behavioral challenges
Knowledge of Completely KIDS mission, values, vision, and ethical standards.
Knowledge Completely KIDS company requirements including but not limited to the Employee Handbook and all organization-wide policies for compliance and compliance procedures affecting specific duties and responsibilities.
Work Experience:
Experience working with youth with IEPs or in Special Education, or youth who have a mental health diagnosis (preferred)
Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
Experience working with at risk youth preferred.
Education Level:
High school education with one year of college in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Human Service or related field (1-2 years of directly related experience may be equivalent).
Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed onsite at an elementary or middle school location. Position requires the ability to stand and walk the majority of the time to move the children from one learning area to another, including outdoor activities.
