Job Description
Prepreg Lay-Up Technician – Key Responsibilities
Material Preparation:
Handle, cut, and shape prepreg composite materials using specialized tools and templates.
Ensure materials are stored, thawed, and used within required timeframes to maintain
integrity.
Lay-Up Process:
Apply prepreg materials to molds and tools, ensuring proper alignment and orientation
according to work travelers and engineering drawings.
Utilize vacuum bagging techniques to prepare parts for curing.
Inspect materials for defects, including bridging, wrinkles, foreign objects, or damage, and
address issues as needed.
Tooling and Molding:
Prepare molds and tools, including cleaning and applying release agents as necessary.
Assist in tool maintenance and repair to ensure continued production efficiency.
Identify and report tooling issues that could affect part quality or production timelines.
Understand various types of molds and associated processes, including open molds, closed
molds, and specialized aerospace tooling techniques.
Documentation & Quality Assurance:
Accurately complete all required documentation, including production logs and quality
checklists.
Perform visual and dimensional inspections of completed parts to ensure compliance with
specifications prior to verification by our Quality Team
Collaborate with quality control teams to address nonconformities and implement
corrective actions.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and adhere to company policies, including the proper use of
personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure compliance with aerospace manufacturing standards and specifications (e.g.,
AS9100, CMMC, NADCAP).
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure seamless workflow
and product delivery.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and reduce waste.
