Position: Medical Assistant
About the Center: The Comprehensive Behavioral Health Center of St. Clair County is located in East St. Louis, IL. The Center has been in operation since 1957 serving the needs of children, adolescents, and adults.

Description: You will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare professionals in delivering quality care to our diverse patient population. Your responsibilities will include assisting with various medical procedures, documenting patient information accurately, and ensuring a smooth patient experience.
Key Duties:
· Help clients by providing information, services, and assistance
· Schedule appointments for clients with Psychiatrists and/or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners
· Manage the schedule of appointments to minimize lost time for providers
· Learn to use the scheduling portion of the system of electronic health records
· Take vital signs and document in system of electronic health records
· Escort clients between the lobby and the psychiatric services area
· Give injections and administer vaccines
· Observe general physical condition of clients and report changes
· Work closely with the pharmacy on site to assist clients with having their prescribed medications
· Observe clients for use of substances that may cause dangerous chemical interactions
· Document services and notes in system of electronic health records
· Know and follow strict guidelines for accountability of drugs
· Maintain great working relationships with clients and fellow employees
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required:
· Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program and a certification such as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
· Proficiency in conducting vital sign assessments
· Proficiency in giving injections
· Strong communication skills and ability to interact compassionately with patients
· Prior experience in a healthcare setting and healthcare scheduling preferred
· Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is desirable
· Computer literate and experienced with Microsoft Office
· A positive and professional customer service orientation
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, 9:00 to 5:00 (30-minute paid lunch)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.50 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
