What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center?
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that are required by Federal, State, and local guidelines. The minimum requirements for experience and education are:
- Education equivalent to graduation from High School
- Minimum 4 years driving experience (Must be at least 25 years of age)
- Ability to provide two current acceptable and verifiable professional references
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule
- Must possess a current California driver's license
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment screening (background check, drug tests, and references)
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain current auto insurance
- Must be able to pass all program-mandated health screenings
SUMMARY:
A driver performs in an environment that demands extreme flexibility in dealing with physicians, patient families, and members of the general public with many different cultural backgrounds and needs. The job demands that the Driver be able to perform all of the routine duties of a Driver working in a standard medical office. Satisfactory performance at this level requires the full knowledge, ability, and willingness to perform duties at the highest professional levels at all times. The Driver must continuously exercise a strong commitment to the organizational goals of Comprehensive Blood & Cancer Center, while simultaneously exhibiting intelligence and sensitivity to extreme human needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transportation of patients
- Support other drivers and couriers as needed
- Pickup and delivery; in accordance with the services provided at CBCC
- Coordinate delivery schedule and daily duties with direct supervisor
- Pick up of medical supplies as directed
- Deliver and meet deadlines for correspondence or parcels
- Assist in item purchases as assigned
- Maintains confidentiality in all matters related to the patient and the organization
- Maintains personal composure and integrity under stressful conditions
- Possess manual dexterity for using tools for general maintenance
- Additional related duties may be assigned
- General gardening and maintenance
Knowledge Skills and abilities:
- Troubleshooting and light maintenance of vehicles and supplies
- Understand and obey all traffic laws
- Experience using Microsoft office software for recordkeeping
- Bilingual preferred
- Information gathering and input
- Providing accurate and timely responses to critical events or work requests
- Cooperating with the FD, physicians, and coworkers
- Remaining calm with patients and other parties under stressful conditions
- Communicate on a professional level in both written and verbal formats
- Perform multiple tasks in a timely manner
- Perform efficiently in a high-pressure setting
- Deal effectively and professionally with various personalities on a routine basis
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with coworkers
- Follow written and verbal directions while retaining the ability to tactfully question directions that seem unclear, unsafe, or illegal
- Identify and solve routine problems encountered in the office
- Meet deadlines and remain on timelines
- Work without supervision when necessary
PHYSICAL STANDARDS:
The ability to gain ingress and egress at all types of locations is essential. Physical agility must be such that the CR is able to sit, walk, crouch, lift, and file for extended periods of time while utilizing their hands, wrists, legs, and arms. This position utilizes office machines (e.g., computers, adding machines, printers, copiers, scanners, etc.) and requires sufficient manual dexterity to operate them all. The CR should be able to lift up to 45 pounds repeatedly and 50 pounds intermittently.
