Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Bakersfield, CA
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that are required by Federal, State, and local guidelines. The minimum requirements for experience and education are:
- Current ARRT & Nuclear Medicine or NMTCB
- Current California Nuclear Medicine license
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Preferred)
- Current First Aid & BLS certification
- Ability to provide two current acceptable and verifiable professional references
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Explain test procedures to patients.
- Prepare a dosage of the radiopharmaceutical and administer it by mouth, injection, or other means.
- Provide high quality images/records on a computer screen
- Keep patient records and record the amount and type of radionuclides received, used, and disposed of.
- Operation and maintenance of equipment
- Follow regulations regarding handling and recording.
- Administer radionuclide doses, perform phlebotomies, and start IVs or heparin locks as needed.
- Perform or obtain appropriate patient care for scans.
- Participate in meetings, projects, committees, and continuing education as needed
- Stay knowledgeable about emerging technology
- Performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures in a timely manner.
- Coordinates and assists in the care of patients assigned.
- Assures necessary equipment and supplies are ordered, replaced and available.
- Maintains confidentiality in all matters related to the patient and the organization
- Maintains personal composure and integrity under stressful conditions
- Performs related duties as required
