JOB SUMMARY:

Early Education teachers (birth to 5) must create a nurturing and healthy environment that supports both the child and family. The teacher must utilize a research-based curriculum, assess child progress, and analyze data to inform their curriculum. Social-emotional development is crucial for children to be ready for kindergarten. Teachers must support children as they learn these skills, while building a positive relationship with families. The teaching team is required to work together to ensure all duties are completed, however, the teacher is ultimately responsible. A float or substitute will be expected to provide the same high-quality care as teachers assigned to a specific classroom.     


WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS:  

  • Full or part time. 
  • Evenings as needed based on family events or meetings. 
  • Staff may be needed to support other buildings or classrooms can shift each year.  
  • Float or substitute teachers will have same responsibilities as teachers but will be expected to go to different buildings if needed. If a long-term float in a room, float is responsible for all planning and documentation.    
  • May be required to work at any CCAP location. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Supervise a classroom of up to 20 children (Preschool) or 8 infants and toddlers.  
  • Abide by HS performance and/or RIDE standard.  
  • Maintain health and safety protocols set forth by licensing and Nurse Manager.   
  • Implement a research-based education and social emotional curriculum with fidelity. 
  • Develop weekly plans that support individualizing children’s needs, supporting those children with an IFSP or IEP.  
  • Create a learning environment which aligns with best practice and environmental tools.  
  • Complete 2 home visits and 2 parent/teacher conferences per year. 
  • Attend all required team and agency meetings.   
  • Attend in-service training and professional development opportunities. Create an IPDP which supports individual growth.  
  • Maintain positive relationships with families and provide an ongoing communication system. 
  • Participate in transition to kindergarten opportunities. 
  • Maintains good and effective working relationships with staff, families, and special educators.  
  • Supervise teacher assistant, interns, parents & volunteers. 
  • Complete all screenings as required.   
  • Responsible to report any suspect of child abuse and neglect. 
  • Ensure the safety of all children in your care and actively supervise all children.   
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or related field.  Must have an IPDP working towards BA (preschool setting). 
  • If degree is not a related field, a current CDA (age appropriate) or early childhood coursework.   
  • RIELDS certification; preferred or to be completed after hire 
  • Recent proof of physical or documentation from PCP clearing applicant to work. 
  • Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations   
  • Provide/maintain all required certifications 
  • Provide/maintain all required background checks 
  • CPR/First Aid certified

PHYSICAL EFFORT / ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be walking around and sit with the children on the floor or in small chairs. Teachers are expected to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens, respiratory diseases and other infectious diseases, and other biohazardous material requiring universal standard precautions. This position requires the individual to have their own transportation, a current unrestricted license to drive, documented auto insurance and the individual must be willing to work in schools, health offices and the community.
