Comprehensive Orthopaedics is seeking a skilled Orthopaedic DME Tech (Brace Fitter) to join our team. This role involves working closely with physicians to ensure the proper application, removal, and adjustment of orthopedic braces and casts. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care, be proficient in using orthopedic devices, and have strong communication skills to effectively train other clinical staff. The Orthopaedic DME Tech will also assist in maintaining a sterile environment by autoclaving instruments and support the clinic by identifying and addressing various office needs when DME tasks are not active. This position may require you to travel between our offices in Wallingford, Meriden, Southington, and Cheshire.
Responsibilities:
- Apply and remove casts, braces, and splints according to physician recommendations and patient needs.
- Safely remove sutures and staples following proper protocols to ensure patient comfort and healing.
- Autoclave and sterilize instruments to maintain a clean and safe clinical environment.
- Collaborate with physicians to implement appropriate orthopedic solutions and advise on the best practices for device use.
- Train and educate other clinical staff on the application and use of new orthopedic inventory and devices.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a DME (Durable Medical Equipment) technician, Medical Assistant, or related field, with experience in orthopedic care.
- Proficient in the application and removal of casts, braces, and splints, with a solid understanding of orthopedic principles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with physicians, patients, and train clinical staff.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing clinic needs.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a sterile environment through proper autoclaving and instrument care.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
