Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health services and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality support to individuals across various age groups. This role involves working with clients to address their mental health needs, utilizing evidence-based practices, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • Eligible for licensure as a Counselor in Virginia

Duties

  • Conduct assessments and evaluations of clients to determine their mental health needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Provide counseling and therapeutic services, including behavioral therapy and psychopharmacology support.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Engage in clinical research to stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in mental health treatment.
  • Address gender issues counseling and provide support for clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Work with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, adapting approaches as necessary for each demographic.
  • Utilize coding systems such as for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Skills

  • Experience working with children and understanding their unique mental health challenges.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Familiarity with clinical research methodologies to enhance treatment effectiveness.
  • Proficiency in psychopharmacology principles related to mental health treatment.
  • Ability to perform accurate coding for medical documentation using ICD-10 standards.
  • Experience in geriatrics, providing tailored support for older adults facing mental health issues.
  • Strong skills in behavioral therapy techniques to assist clients in achieving their therapeutic goals.
  • Sensitivity towards gender issues, ensuring inclusive counseling practices that respect individual identities.
