Job Description Summary
The Workday Finance Data Conversion, Test and Reporting Contractor will provide leadership,
strategy, analysis, execution, and implementation of Finance modules for data conversion, test
and reporting workstreams in support of the Office of the Chief Operating Officer’s (OCOO)
efforts to transform how we are providing experiences to staff. This contracted role will develop
Finance technology-based data-driven solutions while fully performing the Workday Finance
Implementation Data Conversion Lead, Test Lead, Reporting Lead, and technology solution
oversight role. This Workday Finance implementation role includes the implementation of core
finance, financial accounting, projects, banking and settlement, funding, customer accounts,
accounts payable, procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier accounts and budget.
Responsibilities
Provide Workday Finance expertise for implementation planning for data conversion, test
and reporting, including as-is process documentation, exploring Workday-first conceptual
design, educating staff on Workday core principles and coordinating with implementation
partner. Expected modules for implementation are Core FINS, Projects, Procurement,
and Strategic Sourcing
Lead and ensure success of Workday Finance implementation for data conversion, test
and reporting workstreams for the modules and scope. For these areas, develop sound
and thorough strategies, plans, and tools to successfully complete all scope per the
project timelines. Collaborate extensively with the implementation partner and ensure
the functional workstreams follow effective and efficient processes to complete all
required scope.
Lead solution implementation for data conversion, test and reporting: identify
scope/requirements, find/mitigate risks, find/resolve issues, drive/complete configuration
and testing, manage vendors, and plan/deliver implementations for these workstreams.
Provide innovative Workday-first data, reporting, and analytics strategy and solutions for
Finance stakeholder needs, data visibility, data understanding, data integrity/quality,
data security, and advanced analytics; integrate strategic Finance data to other
enterprise reporting platforms where required.
Provide knowledge transfer and enhance Workday expertise for data, test and reporting
to all Finance functional workstream resources, with expectation they will be proactive
and self-sufficient in performing data conversion, test and reporting tasks to support
workstream success.
Proactively report status, risks, actions, issues, and decisions for data conversion, test
and reporting workstreams, following all project and program management protocol and
standards for the implementation project.
Work directly with stakeholders and functional workstreams to evaluate business needs
and proactively develop recommendations for process improvements; identify
opportunities for automation and reduction of manual processes; advise on current
business processes to ensure teams are working as efficiently as possible.
Provide innovative Workday-first strategy and solutions for Finance stakeholders focusing
on data conversion, test, reporting and solution reviews, including thorough
understanding and use of security, business processes, organizations, data, advanced
reporting and analytics, and auditing; utilize a combination of Workday technologies and capabilities to their fullest extent; integrate strategic Finance data with vendor and enterprise platforms where required.
Act as a key liaison between Finance and the Office of Technology (OT) with a focus on
the continuous improvement of Finance systems and processes to ensure efficient and
effective business operations.
Maintain consistent communication with senior management, business leads, and team
members to ensure successful planning and execution of projects and achievement of
established goals; advanced presentation skills required for audience engagement and
understanding; capable of adjusting content relative to the audience for appropriate
sharing of data and findings.
Evaluate system releases and appropriately test Finance technology functionality within
the release window; collaborate with Finance functions ensuring existing processes are
reviewed per the release updates; develop repeatable, documented test processes
mapped to the Finance systems workflow; determine if the new functionality should be
on future roadmap.
Maintain awareness of current trends in Finance Technology with a focus on product and
service development, delivery, and support, and applying key technologies.
In collaboration with the Finance Functional teams, develop user and internal
procedures, guidelines, and documentation; promote user adoption of Finance
technology and systems; foster solid change management principles.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience with Finance data, systems, and processes
Minimum of 3 years of experience with Workday technologies across Core FINS,
Projects, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Payroll, Time, Journeys, and future additional
modules; focus is providing effective solutions across Workday security, business
processes, organizations, configuration, data, and analytics solutions (Report Writer,
Calculated Fields, Trending Data, Dashboards/Hubs, Discovery Boards, Worksheets,
Slides, Prism, etc.).
Must have Workday implementation and management experience, focusing on data
conversion, test and reporting. Includes project management of scope, requirements,
tasks, risks, issues, testing, and implementation.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills; ability to apply these to
process improvement, short-term and long-term planning, and business judgment.
Ability to handle pressure, manage priorities, meet deadlines, make effective decisions,
and be flexible.
A self-starter able to proactively administer many open, ongoing assignments where
some assignments are routinely unstructured, requiring autonomy and independent
judgment.
Ability to partner and work strategically with internal clients, business partners, and
stakeholders.
Ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment with multiple competing priorities.
Must be able to handle employee-sensitive and business information with utmost
confidentiality.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Internet
applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Workday training or Workday Pro certifications focused on implemented
modules, security, and reporting capabilities.
Preferred familiarity with Power BI or a comparable program.
