Summary:
The Staff Accountant is a self-starting professional who is comfortable using analytics, maintains consistency and accuracy in the results of their work, and prioritizes deadlines. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with other departmental professionals to provide support across all aspects of CompTIA's finance function to ensure management receives the financial information they need to make decisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures the integrity of financial information by compiling, calculating, posting, and verifying accounting transactions
Resolves discrepancies when performing monthly account reconciliations and analyses
Prepares audit schedules and assists with annual audit requests
Answers external accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
Provides accounting support to Shared Services team
Seeks opportunities to improve efficiency and document accounting processes
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
Adheres to the timeliness of the financial close and other departmental deadlines
Performs other accounting duties as assigned
Key Performance Metrics:
Maintains accuracy of Financial Reporting
Accomplishes accounting and CompTIA missions by completing related goals
Timeliness of Financial Close and other deadlines
Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Maintains attention to detail and accuracy
Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks
Possesses excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Collaborates well with colleagues from different departments
Able to work independently and productively in a remote environment
Possesses strong communication skills - both written and verbal
Note - Preference is to have someone based in the Chicago area
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
1-3 years of related experience
Understanding of GAAP and financial principles
