The Property Tax Assistance Division (PTAD) provides technical assistance to local governments and taxpayers on property tax issues. PTAD is split into two areas, Appraisal Operations and PTAD Programs, allowing the Division to meet customer needs and implement statutory requirements in many innovative ways. This position is under the Data Analysis and Technical Assistance, Outreach and Support, Methods and Assistance (MAP) Team within the PTAD Programs area. The Property Tax Assistance Division is actively looking for an individual with experience providing extensive customer service to property owners, arbitrators, tax offices, legislators, property tax professionals and/or appraisal districts through phone, email, and written correspondence.
This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Education:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business, communications, English, government, management, political science, public policy or another related field.
Experience:
- Three (3) years’ experience researching, preparing, and editing documents for public dissemination.
- One (1) year project management or coordination experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in the property tax field.
- Experience in government in a state agency, local government entities or legislative office.
Substitution:
One (1) additional year of full-time minimum experience as stated above may substitute for thirty (30 semester hours) of the required education with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).
In this role you will:
- Organize and process MAP preliminary and final reports through project tracking and preparing report documents. Prepare follow-up MAP reports by creating all clear letters using an approved template and ensuring delivery to appropriate parties. Track follow-up data and manage the TDLR reporting process. Maintain data for use in presentations, publications or on the website. Monitor and manage data quality and perform quality control reviews.
- Coordinate the collection and organization of data for use by the MAP reviewers. Upload data received and act as a liaison for appraisal districts uploading data. Assist reviewers in scheduling onsite visits to appraisal districts.
- Assist in the creation of new guidelines and document lists every review cycle. Create new tracking documents and shell reports for each new cycle. Ensure 508 compliance for all documents posted to the website. Develop, edit and/or revise informational materials including forms, publications website content, one-pagers and/or training materials.
- Assist in updating and maintaining information materials to reflect legislative and other changes. Reviews and assists in updating administrative rules as needed. Track MAP team license information and ensure continuing education hours are met. Coordinate bi-annual training in Austin.
