Position Overview
We are currently seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Project Manager to support the implementation of the federally mandated Advancing Interoperability and Improving Prior Authorization Processes Final Rule. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing care coordination between members, providers, and payers through the use of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and mobile applications. These tools will empower members to easily access their healthcare data and facilitate interoperable data exchanges between providers and payers.
The Project Manager will support the Director of Business & Systems Integration by managing the overall implementation of the interoperability and prior authorization requirements of the final rule. This includes coordinating and managing project activities across workstreams, assisting with the management of planning and implementation vendors, and overseeing key administrative and reporting activities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills, along with the ability to effectively coordinate resources and meet deadlines.
Detailed Statement of Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for the management and implementation of the interoperability final rule project.
- Oversee all activities of planning and implementation vendors to ensure timely service delivery as defined in the executed contract; support procurement activities as needed.
- Lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams composed of business and technical staff to ensure effective project execution, communication, and compliance with federal regulations.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and activities to ensure timely completion of deliverables and alignment with business needs.
- Facilitate project team meetings to communicate project status, coordinate activities, and manage team efforts.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and materials to communicate project status, provide updates to stakeholders, address key issues, and facilitate escalations.
- Monitor risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and track action items through completion.
- Coordinate with the project team and vendors to facilitate reviews and validation of project deliverables and participation in key activities (e.g., requirements validation, design documents).
- Ensure compliance with federal funding requirements, including invoice management and time/attendance reporting.
- Maintain detailed project documentation and track progress against goals.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with project team members, senior leadership, and stakeholders.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures related to project management, procurement, and other standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in project management within the healthcare industry, including successfully completing projects in a healthcare IT environment.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with management, vendors, and project team members.
- Capability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Strong documentation skills and ability to convey complex concepts in a clear, accessible manner.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to assess priorities and adapt to dynamic team needs.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements, such as HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of IT-related project management experience.
- Experience preparing and managing project documentation.
- Proficiency with MS Project and MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Project management certification (PMP or equivalent) is a plus, demonstrating commitment to professional development and industry best practices.
