Job Title: Senior Business Analyst
Duration: 5 Months
Location: Everett, MA (Hybrid - 1 day a week in office)
Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Senior Business Analyst to support business analysis activities, focusing on gathering requirements, analyzing processes, and defining solutions. The ideal candidate will have expertise in wireframing, UX design, iterative design, and prototyping. Familiarity with higher education systems, including college enrollment and financial aid processes, is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Analysis:
- Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements.
- Conduct interviews, workshops, and meetings to gather and validate requirements.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications and user stories.
- Develop and maintain documentation such as process flows, use cases, and business rules in tools like Confluence and SharePoint.
- Create wireframes and prototypes to visualize solutions.
- Log and manage tasks, user stories, and defects in Jira.
- Partner with IT managers, architects, and developers to ensure clear understanding of requirements and verify defect resolutions.
- Define clear acceptance criteria for features.
- Perform usability testing to ensure user interfaces meet stakeholder needs.
- Document and track defects, participate in defect triage meetings, and ensure timely resolution.
- Contribute to process and methodology improvements across the team.
- Foster a collaborative, empathetic, and responsive environment for stakeholders and team members.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, information systems, computer science, or related field.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years as a Business Analyst or in QA roles, preferably in the higher education sector.
- Strong skills in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements through interviews, workshops, and prioritization.
- Experience with quality assurance principles, including test plan creation, test case execution, and familiarity with testing tools.
- Understanding of data models, migration processes, and integrity best practices, including data cleansing and managing relationships.
- Knowledge of data integration patterns, APIs, and middleware platforms for system interoperability.
- Experience providing user training and support, creating documentation, conducting training sessions, and addressing inquiries.
- Agile experience, including participation in ceremonies like sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate technical concepts for various audiences.
- Proficiency with Jira and Microsoft 365 productivity tools.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Deep understanding of higher education systems and processes (e.g., SIS, LMS, ERP).
- Proficiency with wireframing tools like Figma or similar.
- Certifications in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP) or Quality Assurance (e.g., ISTQB).
- Knowledge of SQL or other database querying languages.
