We currently have a new and exciting opportunity available for a Network Technician to join our client for an on-site position. This role involves travel, must have valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable automobile.
Traveling to different locations but will be based in one branch. Will travel within 1-2 hours with one location having a 5-hour commute. This will be planned travel and planned out ahead of time and flexible. Travel is approximately 10 times a month, sitting at that site. If a site goes down or has a disaster recovery issue this person will be there to change out the hardware.
This is a contract position 6 months, with the possibility of extension
Responsibilities:
- Designing and installing computer networks, connections, and cabling
- Responsible for setting up internet connections, establishing different types of networks and connecting them
- Implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing computer and network systems
- Troubleshooting computer software and hardware issues, system failures, and identifying roadblocks in the network
- Fixing problems in LAN infrastructure and testing and configuring software
- Maintaining and preparing hardware including peripheral devices
- Ensuring that the software is correctly installed and launching on computers
- Securing the computer network against cyber-attacks, installing antivirus software, and ensuring it is regularly updated
- Scheduling upgrades and maintenance without interrupting business workflow
- Suggesting the best equipment and programs and requesting new equipment if what's being currently used becomes unreliable
- Work with vendors to get needed equipment for the networks and systems
- Providing technical support for clients and end-users through various lines of communication
- Working with vendors to get needed equipment
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of general network hands-on experience, including various network protocols
- 3 years of Cisco networking experience including routing, switching, voice, and video
- Network tools handling and troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to think analytically and use process of elimination to disprove potential causes of trouble conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of users and vendors
- Must be able to carry items 50lbs and go check on systems in server closets
