What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor-Core Specimen Processing position at CompuNet Clinical Laboratories?
Responsible for the supervision, coordination and management of the Chemistry technical staff at the Sandridge Core Lab location.

- Provide direct supervision and daily leadership to the Core Technical Team in concert with CompuNet’s mission, vision and values to meet business objectives and customer expectations.
- Utilize the departmental staffing plan to provide daily schedules, work assignments, and time to complete special projects.
- Review timekeeping system data on a regular basis, submit completed payroll records on time, and manage department overtime.
- Assist in the development and management of the department budget.
- Select new employees; provide initial training and ongoing development through coaching, continuing education, competency assessment and the performance appraisal process. Set goals and objectives, determine appropriate corrective action and document employee performance throughout the year.
- Provide clear, consistent communication to staff through regularly scheduled meetings, memos, bulletin boards and personal communication.
- Develop departmental compliance, ergonomic, and safety procedures as needed based on company policies; ensure departmental compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Coordinate departmental quality assurance activities, perform the regular review of quality control records, collect pertinent data, and troubleshoot issues that affect workflow or operations, facilitate improvement activities.
- Facilitate communication with internal and external customers; support and promote all customer and patient satisfaction initiatives. Evaluate customer satisfaction.
- In conjunction with technical managers, write, revise and implement technical and departmental procedures consistent with the CompuNet Quality Program to ensure that the laboratory meets the requirements of CLIA’88.
- Along with technical managers/directors, select instruments and methodologies, oversee method validation and verification studies, and monitor test performance.
- Ensure readiness for accreditation and inspection visits by regulatory agencies; provide oversight of required internal and external proficiency testing.
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization by communicating goals and promoting activities to achieve current metrics.
- Participate as part of the CompuNet Management Team, attending appropriate meetings and participating in various committees and teams as needed.
- Perform routine technical work, advanced/specialized testing or any other duties assigned or needed.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Science (MLT/MT) with ASCP/AMT certification.
- 2-3 years of demonstrated success and experience in positions of progressively increasing responsibility in a medical lab environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
- Good computer skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with people.
- Schedule flexibility required for meetings and employee interactions on various shifts.
- Sound reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
- Ability to work within specified deadlines and timetables.
- Visual acuity and hand-finger dexterity to work at computer for extended periods.
