Job Summary :
The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic operates and drives all types of aviation ground support equipment, both motorized and non-motorized. This role involves conducting regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on a variety of ground support equipment, ensuring equipment remains in optimal working condition.
Key Responsibilities :
- Operate and drive various types of aviation ground support equipment, including tow tractors, diesel engines, generators, air conditioning units, and maintenance stands
- Conduct regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on ground support equipment
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, including fluid changes, filter replacements, belt adjustments, and tire rotations
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and safety regulations
- Overhaul and rebuild engines, transmissions, and other major components to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and hours spent on each task
- Coordinate with program teams to prioritize and complete repair jobs in a timely manner to minimize equipment downtime
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring all tools, equipment, and parts are properly stored and readily accessible
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to ground support equipment maintenance and repair
- Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external vendors to coordinate repairs, procure parts, and resolve technical issues
- Fuel equipment as necessary, following all safety and environmental requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
