Job Summary :

The Carlsbad Shipping Operator III will be responsible for the safe and efficient daily loading of shipments and packaging of finished goods, with minimal supervision. The role requires proficiency in operating material handling equipment, identifying unsafe conditions, and following established escalation procedures. The Shipping Operator III will also develop a basic understanding of product containers, hazardous and non-hazardous materials, and emergency response protocols. In addition, this role requires a commitment to safety, quality standards, and teamwork, with the expectation to work within a high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop a basic understanding of all product containers manufactured at the Carlsbad facility.
• Gain knowledge of domestic shipping procedures for both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
• Review logistics documentation (e.g., bills of lading), interpret data, and identify any abnormal conditions to address accordingly.
• Apply Versum’s and site-specific quality systems, procedures, and forms for daily shipping operations.
• Recognize immediate and potential safety hazards, and escalate issues to the proper supervisor. Participate in safety audits and propose solutions for safety hazards.
• Follow supervisor directions while demonstrating initiative in a teamwork environment.
• Identify and escalate abnormal conditions related to safety and shipping functions.
• Actively contribute to the team in support of Basic Safety Principles and adhere to all safety guidelines.
• Maintain manufacturing Kanbans and monitor satellite warehouses and docks for compliance with continuous improvement and housekeeping requirements.
• Communicate professionally and courteously with other departments and personnel.
• Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, drum dollies) safely and efficiently.
• Flexibility to support other areas of operation as needed, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
• Multitask effectively while maintaining a safe working environment and meeting all required quality requirements.
• Participate in mandatory EH&S and Versum new hire indoctrination training and complete all necessary documentation.
