Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to provide 24x7 software and hardware support for complex applications, specifically in several versions of SQL Server. The role will involve maintaining high availability, disaster recovery, and ensuring compliance with industry and DTMB development standards. The ideal candidate will participate in installation, patch management, maintenance, and upgrades while evaluating the impacts of changes, recommending solutions to persistent issues, and acting as the liaison between the Agency Services team and external consultants.
Key Responsibilities :
- Database Standards & Procedures : Follow and enforce database standards, policies, and procedures. Research and draft guidelines within current policies and standards.
- Space Allocation & Disk Space Management : Monitor space allocation across databases and adjust space in test and development environments as needed, according to predefined standards.
- Capacity Planning & Adjustments : Calculate disk space requirements for new or existing business needs and modify DBMS parameters based on capacity changes.
- Database Integrity : Configure, execute, and monitor database integrity checks to ensure the stability and accuracy of databases.
- Database Software Installation : Install database management software, patches, and service packs for development and test environments.
- Clustered Database Support : Monitor and support clustered database environments for high availability.
- Replication & Backup Support : Monitor and support database replication and backup environments to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery.
- Fragmentation Management : Implement strategies to release unused space or repair fragmentation in test and development environments.
- Script Execution : Execute scripts provided by Systems Analysts or Database Architects / Designers for creating and modifying database objects (tables, views, constraints, indexes, etc.).
- Backup & Recovery Monitoring : Monitor database backups to ensure data recoverability, troubleshooting backup errors when necessary.
- Scheduled Processes & Troubleshooting : Monitor and troubleshoot database jobs and scheduled processes in development, test, and production environments.
- Database Monitoring : Utilize tools (alert logs, trace files, alert mechanisms) to monitor database environments for functionality issues, connectivity problems, or downtime.
- Space Allocation & Best Practices : Follow best practices for space allocation based on business requirements and implementation considerations.
