Position Summary :
The Material Handler is responsible for maintaining the movement of incoming and outgoing products throughout the facility. This includes handling materials, organizing inventory, and ensuring smooth material flow to meet production and shipping needs. The role requires adherence to safety and quality standards and involves both manual and automated equipment to move, store, and distribute materials.
Key Responsibilities :
- Material Handling :
- Read production schedules, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved or distributed.
- Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to designated storage or areas as required.
- Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or bins based on predefined sequences like size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Order Fulfillment :
- Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials and distribute items to production areas.
- Assemble customer orders from stock and place them on pallets for shipment.
- Material Identification & Record Keeping :
- Mark materials with identifying information and record the amounts of materials received or distributed.
- Open bales, crates, and other containers to verify contents.
- Weigh or count items to ensure conformance to company standards before distribution.
- Equipment Operation :
- Use manual and automated material handling equipment to transport stored items.
- Load and unload trailers with both palletized and non-palletized products.
- Safety & Compliance :
- Follow safety, hygiene, and personal protection guidelines to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Adhere to appropriate warehouse housekeeping practices.
- Miscellaneous Duties :
- May perform other duties as required to support warehouse operations.
- Contribute to team performance and ensure customer needs and expectations are met.
