Job Summary :
The Pharmacy Technician will support pharmacy operations under the direction of the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor and supervision of the Clinical Pharmacist. The technician will be responsible for routine pharmacy tasks, including medication preparation, delivery, and handling of controlled substances. This position ensures the accurate preparation of medications, including compounding sterile and non-sterile preparations, and supports staff and patients by providing timely and accurate pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities :
Medication Preparation and Delivery :
Prepare, dispense, and deliver medications, including Schedule II through VI medications, for automated dispensing machines throughout the facility.
Repackage unit dose medications as required and ensure accuracy in all medication dispensation.
Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded preparations according to established protocols and guidelines.
Controlled Substance Handling :
Handle and process controlled substances with strict adherence to pharmacy policies and legal regulations.
Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation of controlled substances from preparation to delivery.
Inventory Management :
Accurately transfer inventory items between the pharmacy and designated locations.
Assist in managing stock levels and maintaining proper inventory control.
Customer Support :
Provide customer service to nurses, physicians, inpatients, and outpatients, ensuring timely medication delivery and addressing inquiries.
Escalate complex questions and concerns to the on-duty pharmacist for resolution.
Collaboration with Pharmacy Team :
Work closely with pharmacists and other pharmacy staff to ensure the efficient functioning of the pharmacy.
Assist in the preparation and administration of medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Required Qualifications :
Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
National Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) is required.
Previous experience with medication compounding preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals.

Compounding experience, including sterile and non-sterile preparations.
Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting.
