Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to serve as a servant leader, facilitating Agile Release Trains (ARTs) in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment. The RTE will drive program-level processes and execution, manage risks, and escalate impediments while acting as a chief Scrum Master. This role requires strong leadership, Agile coaching expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement and lean-agile principles.
Key Responsibilities
• Facilitate, mentor, and coach Agile Release Trains (ARTs) on SAFe best practices, enabling enterprise-wide agile transformation.
• Coordinate and coach teams on Scrum, Lean, and Kanban methodologies to improve Agile maturity and delivery efficiency.
• Lead large-scale SAFe transformations and complex Agile delivery, partnering with key stakeholders at associate director and director levels.
• Improve ART performance in predictability, flow-through, cycle time, and quality.
• Collaborate with Portfolio Leads, Product Management, Product Owners, other Release Train Engineers, and Scrum Masters to establish lean-agile routines and best practices.
• Drive execution of Scaled Agile Value Stream Mapping, Kanban management, and Train Program Increment (PI) planning.
• Work closely with DevOps and Quality Engineering teams to enhance CI / CD, DevOps, and test automation maturity.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and alignment between teams and stakeholders.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies, group dynamics, and communication across multiple teams, ensuring alignment with agile principles.
• Coach teams and leaders to self-sufficiency in Agile methodologies and enterprise-wide transformation practices.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
• 5 years of experience as an Agile Coach or Release Train Engineer in a technology-driven environment.
• Current SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) 6.0 certification.
• Deep knowledge of Agile principles and experience in applying them to new and evolving environments.
• Strong expertise in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Lean, and Product Development Flow principles within enterprise contexts.
• Experience with large-scale software delivery and Agile transformation in enterprise organizations.
• Transparent and proactive in reporting ART performance, issues, and delivery impediments.
• Experience in Agile facilitation, including Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, backlog prioritization, release planning, sprint planning, and Agile metrics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) and Atlassian Jira Align at the team, ART, and portfolio levels.
• Willingness to work Eastern Time Zone hours and attend face-to-face meetings as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in facilitation, training, and public speaking.
Certification :
• Additional Agile certifications such as SAFe SPC6, CSP, PMI-ACP, or similar.
• ICAgile coaching certifications such as ICP-ACT, ICP-CAT, ICP-ATF, or ICP-ACC.
