Veterinarian - PIADC (Animal Health & Welfare)
We are seeking a qualified Veterinarian to join our team at PIADC. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of animal health, with responsibilities ranging from clinical care to research support in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct clinical rounds and prescribe treatment plans for injured/sick animals.
- Provide support to the Deputy Attending Veterinarian.
- Generate and maintain animal health report data for in-house health cases.
- Evaluate study animals to assess animal welfare.
- Perform euthanasia as needed.
- Administer and distribute medications and anesthetic agents for study animals.
- Examine incoming animals and provide treatment if necessary.
- Report animal health data to IACUC and attend IACUC meetings.
- Investigate and generate reports for incidents involving vendors, animal health, and welfare.
- Mentor and train animal care staff, health technicians, and research teams.
- Participate in PIADC vivarium inspections and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.
- Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience with large animals (swine and cattle), including work with experimentally infected animals.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Security Level 3 (PSL-3) clearance.
- Must pass a government background investigation (NAC), employment physical, and drug/alcohol screening.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. (E-Verify participation).
Biosecurity Note: Due to biosecurity requirements, candidates who own or work with cloven-hoofed animals, pigs, or chickens outside of PIADC are not eligible. The only livestock that can be privately owned or worked with is horses.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
