Computer Emergency Room is seeking a highly skilled Network Technician and Microsoft Server Specialist to join our team in Vestal, NY. This full-time role involves installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems and Microsoft server environments to ensure optimal performance and reliability for our clients. Key Responsibilities:
Network Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain network devices (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to minimize downtime.
- Ensure network security by implementing firewalls, VPNs, and other protective measures.
- Document network configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.
Microsoft Server Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and other server roles.
- Perform server backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning.
- Optimize server performance and monitor system health.
- Apply updates, patches, and security configurations to maintain compliance and stability.
Technical Support:
- Provide remote and on-site technical support for network and server-related issues.
- Assist clients in deploying, upgrading, and troubleshooting hardware and software systems.
- Train clients on the effective use of systems and technologies.
Collaboration and Client Support:
- Work closely with internal team members and clients to deliver tailored IT solutions.
- Analyze client needs and recommend solutions for network and server optimization.
- Communicate effectively to resolve client concerns and ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in network administration and server management.
- Proficiency with networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs) and hardware (Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows Server environments, including:
o Active Directory
o Group Policy Management
o Hyper-V or other virtualization technologies
- Strong knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and security protocols.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure (preferred).

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
