Core Responsibilities:
- Design and develop layouts for OSP and ISP Fiber design, ensuring accurate representation of cable routes and infrastructure.
- Create ISP patch panel diagrams and cable rack layouts for fiber network designs.
- Generate bills of materials, splice sheets, and other critical supporting documentation for fiber design projects.
- Review completed designs to identify and resolve any errors or inefficiencies.
- Ensure all design specifications are maintained and meet the required standards.
- Analyze OTDR traces, evaluate fiber characteristics, and document the test results.
- Assist in troubleshooting fiber circuits for light and path continuity to ensure high network performance.
- Analyze current design processes and identify opportunities for improving efficiency.
- Support the team by creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.
- Provide fiber design support to specialists and the leadership team.
- May advise, train, and mentor junior designers.
- Additional duties as assigned by the leadership team.
- Experience or equivalent education/certification with AutoCAD, Microstation, Spatial, or ESRI is required.
- Strong candidates will have a deep understanding of fiber design, especially in HFC systems, and be familiar with software tools like Spatial and ArcGIS. Familiarity with Iris is a plus, as the team is transitioning to this software.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Visual design skills are highly desired.
- Knowledge of easement, right-of-way, and permit documents is a plus.
- Demonstrated competence in design methodology, process, and metrics.
- Hands-on experience designing and/or constructing telecommunications fiber networks is essential.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to think creatively and strategically.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience.
