Job Title : Mechanical Design Technician III
Location : Wilmington, NC
Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Wilmington, NC
Pay Rate : Based on experience
Work Hours : M-F 8am-5pm
Education : AAS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering (Equivalent work experience may be considered in rare circumstances.)

Description
Purpose of Position :
Provide mechanical equipment designs and layouts meeting Machine Drafting Standards on CAD-based formats (AutoCAD® 2023, Inventor 2023).
Create new documentation to complete drawing packages, equipment build packages, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment.
Modify existing documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Assemble complete machine design packages from existing plant files, checking drawings for accuracy and adding necessary details.
Major Responsibilities :
Re-design mechanical components to reduce installation costs, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs.
Create, review, and update installation documentation and drawings as required.
Redline existing drawings and follow up with drafting services or oversee draftsmen as needed.
Execute design changes to resolve equipment / process issues.
Ensure designs meet form, fit, and function goals established by internal customers and project managers.
Provide sketches or marked-up drawings to support project and equipment needs.
Requirements :
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design.
Capability to generate full drawing packages for industrial equipment from assembly to detailed drawings.
Strong understanding of mechanical equipment / systems for designing new components or modifying existing ones.
Ability to perform elementary design calculations (statics, hydraulics, power transmission, etc.).
Familiarity with machine shop and fabrication shop processes to optimize design for efficient manufacturing.
Equipment or Software Experience Preferred :
Windows, MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
AutoCAD® 2023, Vault, Inventor 2023
Travel Requirements :
Minimal travel required; occasional trips to the Concord Plant or equipment vendors may be necessary.
Some time will be spent on the production floor gathering information on existing equipment.
Equipment Familiarization Preferred :
Personal computers
Precision measurement devices (e.g., Tape Measure, Calipers, Micrometers)
