As a Senior SQL Database Engineer, you’ll work on impactful projects that demand innovative database solutions, ensuring seamless data management and system efficiency. This role places you at the forefront of database design and implementation, collaborating with top-tier IT professionals to support mission-critical operations.
Lead the design and development of sophisticated database structures that fit seamlessly within broader system architectures.
Drive system improvements through thoughtful analysis, ensuring databases operate at peak efficiency and align with evolving business needs.
Develop complex systems using queries, scripts, tables, and Cloud methodologies, ensuring secure and effective data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
Write, test, and deploy custom database code (queries, scripts, stored procedures) to address system requirements, troubleshoot issues, and fine-tune performance in real time.
Engage directly with data pipelines, crafting solutions for data flow, integrity, and transformation using modern engineering tools and techniques.
Work closely with project leads to translate complex requirements into practical database solutions, from project inception through operational testing.
Provide hands-on leadership throughout the lifecycle—from database creation to system acceptance—ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.
Balance the trade-offs between data volume, user load, distribution, response times, and security controls to ensure smooth operations and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities :
Architect & Build : Lead the design and development of sophisticated database structures that fit seamlessly within broader system architectures.

Innovate with Data : Develop complex systems using queries, scripts, tables, and Cloud methodologies, ensuring secure and effective data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
Engineer Solutions : Write, test, and deploy custom database code (queries, scripts, stored procedures) to address system requirements, troubleshoot issues, and fine-tune performance in real time.
Hands-On Development : Engage directly with data pipelines, crafting solutions for data flow, integrity, and transformation using modern engineering tools and techniques.
Collaborate Across Teams : Work closely with project leads to translate complex requirements into practical database solutions, from project inception through operational testing.
Guide the Lifecycle : Provide hands-on leadership throughout the lifecycle—from database creation to system acceptance—ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.
Data Flow & Security : Balance the trade-offs between data volume, user load, distribution, response times, and security controls to ensure smooth operations and data integrity.
The Level 3 Senior SQL Database Engineer shall possess the following capabilities :
Support the database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis activities.
Support the analysis and evaluation of system improvements, optimization, development and / or maintenance efforts.
Support the development of long- and short-term requirements for database administration and design.
Assist in developing databases, database parser software, and database loading software.
Translate a set of requirements and data into a usable database schema by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts and macros, updates existing queries, creates new ones to manipulate data into a master file.
Assist in developing database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system under development.
Lead development of database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system under development.
Lead development of databases, database parser software, and database loading software.
Develop requirement recommendations from a project’s inception to its conclusion for a particular Business and IT subject matter area (i.e. simple to complex systems).
Develop a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls.
Direct fulfillment of requirements from a project’s inception to it conclusion.
Direct organization of requirements and data into a usable database schema by directing development of ad hoc queries, scripts, macros, updates to existing queries .
Direct the overall database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system underdevelopment and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls.
Direct the development of complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database
Connectivity and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies.
Qualifications :
Ten (10) years experience as a DBE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
Five (5) years of DBE experience may be substitued for a bachelor’s degree
Expertise in relational and Object-Oriented database design, development, and implementation.
Strong knowledge of Cloud methodologies, database parsing, and optimization techniques.
Proven ability to lead database projects through all phases of the development lifecycle.
Hands-on experience writing and optimizing SQL queries, scripting for automation, and troubleshooting complex database issues
