Comstock Park is seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom.

 

SUMMARY:

Drives bus to transport students over specified routes according to the time schedule.  We are seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom.

 

PAID TRAINING.  THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH AMAZING STUDENTS AND A GREAT TEAM OF BUS DRIVERS!

 

COMSTOCK PARK PUBLIC SCHOOLS provides paid CDL Training! ($15.97 per hour):

  • Starting pay is $18.64 per hour for the first 90 days.  
  • Regular Route Drivers board hired FOLLOWING 90-day probation
  • Dental and Vision provided for employees working 20 or more hours per week.
  • Split shift position; drivers must be available between 6:00-9:00 a.m. and 2:00-5:00 p.m.

 

SUB BUS DRIVERS:

  • Paid CDL Training provided ($15.47 per hour) during training.
  • FLEXIBILITY! May work mornings only, afternoons only, or both.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drives a school bus safely and professionally.
  • Performs and properly completes pre-trip inspections.
  • Complies with all traffic ordinances and regulations.
  • Complies with discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation Complies with rules and regulations of the Comstock Park Drivers’ Handbook.
  • Participates in on-site training.
  • Shows proficiency in handling and maneuvering school buses.
  • May start as a bus aide.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students while transporting them.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily by the end of the trial period.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have an acceptable driving record and be able to pass the physical, including drug test. Continuing education classes must be completed as required to maintain licensing certification.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License with a “P” and “S” endorsement. Must pass the State Skill Test and State Written Test. CPR and first aid certification preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information one-to-one and in small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement, volume and distance.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems in various situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers, parents and students. Ability to read and understand maps. Ability to pass State Skill Test, State Written Test, and Department of Transportation physical. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit and occasionally required to walk or stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee frequently repeats the same hand, arm or finger motion many times. The employee frequently uses hand strength to grasp controls. The employee is continuously driving on the job. This job may involve lifting 50 pounds or positioning 90 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in temperatures above 100º and below 32º and occasionally will walk on slippery surfaces. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The employee has direct responsibility for the safety and well-being of others. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud to where you have to raise your voice to be heard. The employee must be able to climb steps and to access all mirrors, doors, windows and the engine compartment. This person will wear clothing in accordance with building policy.

 

COMPENSATION: In accordance with the master agreement between Comstock Park Educational Employees Association and the Comstock Park Board of Education. 

 

The final candidate for this position will be required (at their cost) to furnish the district with a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check prior to our recommendation to hire.
