What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Teaching - PI position at Comstock Park School District?
Comstock Park is seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom.
This position will start in the 2025-2026 school year.
SUMMARY:
To create an engaging elementary program and a class environment where learning and personal growth are inspired; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education in accordance with each pupil's ability; to work collaboratively with parents and with other staff members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches district approved curriculum.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Scaffolds lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Plans and coordinates the work of paraprofessionals, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
- Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers and exhibits of students’ work.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Bachelor of Arts degree.
- Meets all requirements for Highly Qualified.
COMPENSATION: In accordance with the master agreement between Comstock Park Educational Employees Association and the Comstock Park Board of Education.
The final candidate for this position will be required (at their cost) to furnish the district with a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check prior to our recommendation to hire.
