What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Dispatcher position at Comstock Park School District?
Comstock Park is seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom.
SUMMARY
Assist Transportation Director in the area of dispatching bus drivers to ensure safe, timely transportation of district students to school and related school events. Update bus routes and assist in the development and maintenance of bus routes, if needed by the Transportation Director. Assist with emergencies and adjustments due to accidents, weather, breakdowns or school schedules. Assists parents, drivers and school administrators in the resolution of problem situations, as needed. This position will be school year employment, with hours not less than 20 hours per week, and hours not to exceed 29 hours per week. Times may vary daily, but generally between 12:00-5:00 PM.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fills all athletic and educational field trips and prepares billing statements.
- Works with principals, parents, and bus drivers regarding scheduling, route problems, complaints and student code of conduct as it relates to student behavior on buses.
- Maintains constant communication with bus driver via two way radio
- Assigns bus drivers and substitutes in absence of supervisor.
- Assists in routine office operations.
- Promotes safety practices for all transportation employees.
- Helps maintain records on buses and reports fleet accidents and property damage.
- Helps maintain accurate route records.
- Maintains time and attendance for sub driver payroll and special trips.
- Maintains equalization charts and records as required.
- Maintain confidentiality with sensitive issues, under the direction of the Transportation Director.
- Must have current CDL class B, with passenger (PS) endorsement. Or the ability to obtain within the first 90 days of employment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School or GED. Experience in general transportation operations.
The final candidate for this position will be required (at their cost) to furnish the district with a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check prior to our recommendation to hire.
