What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vocational Counselor (Part-Time) position at Comunilife?
Comunilife is looking to hire a Vocational Counselor to help us in our mission to provide linkage to services to our clients. The Vocational Counselor is responsible for providing vocational services to clients. linking clients to community-based educational, vocational and employment programs such as health services, trade schools, volunteer, supportive or competitive employment. This is a part time position working 20 hours a week. The salary is upto $19.23 per hour.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct needs assessments
- Schedule appointments
- Provide vocational counseling, job development and placement assistance
- Monitor clients’ progress with their goals in educational, vocational and/or job plans
- Develop and implement a weekly vocational counseling and training program including leading job groups
- Work collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary team to ensure comprehensive, client-centered services are delivered and documented
Education and Experience Requirement(s):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Education or a related area
- Two (2) years’ work experience in benefits and entitlements with extensive knowledge of community resources
- Experience with HIV/AIDS afflicted individuals, chronic mental illness, substance abuse individuals and their families a plus
- Bilingual skills in English/Spanish a plus
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in providing direct services related to the treatment and recovery of persons with HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, serious mental illness, and homelessness
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency with MS Office and Google product suites
- Ability to perform and manage in a team approach; excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle complex challenges and balance multiple demands on time and attention
- Ability and willingness to perform all duties as workload necessitates
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Understanding of and commitment to organization’s mission, vision, and values
- Demonstrated knowledge of compliance, evidence–based practices, and quality improvement tasks and processes to ensure that programs are operating consistently with regulations of funders and regulatory bodies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency with MS Office and Google product suites
- Knowledge of systems such as AWARDS, CAIRS, CARES, etc.
