Job Summary
Oversees all aspects of the maintenance department, production lines, and affiliated equipment, building, and grounds. Schedules work and manpower to meet production demands, maintains the preventative maintenance system, and works toward meeting or exceeding the plants' safety and uptime goals. Controls maintenance expenses by monitoring overtime and parts expenses weekly.
Establishes and maintains mechanical integrity and equipment reliability programs to ensure employee safety, provide environmental security, and maximize the plant's availability, product quality, and cost-effectiveness. Other primary duties include:
- Plans and schedules workforce efficiently for utilization of employees.
- Monitors downtime occurrences to maintain consistent operations.
- Monitors the efficiencies of the production lines, paying special attention to maintenance and mechanical trends.
- Trains, motivates, and directs employees to adhere to safe work methods and standard procedures to ensure efficient utilization of employees.
- Promotes teamwork to achieve Company's goals and objectives.
- Maintains a cooperative working relationship with USDA officials.
- Controls labor costs.
- Purchases supplies and repair parts with regard to quality.
- Controls departmental overtime.
- Monitors the machinery and equipment to ensure safety of the employees.
- Enforces the plant's safety program.
- Complies with all OSHA safety regulations and standards.
- Maintains equipment for efficient operation within maintenance budget; operates within the constraint of the union contract and USDA regulations.
- Seeks continuous improvement in the Maintenance Department employees and the efficiencies of the production lines.
- Assumes full ownership of predictive and preventive maintenance activities, including oil analysis, vibration analysis, engine-compressor analysis, and infrared thermography.
- Continuously evaluates PM/PDM activities and frequencies to ensure optimum use of manpower and resources in maximizing equipment reliability.
- Involves all associates in a team concept, keeping personnel safety, food safety, and uptime as top priorities.

Physical Requirements

Position Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical degree program preferred.
- 3-5 years of previous maintenance experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
Compensation and Benefits
