Role Description
As Controller, you will join an excellent management team with an exceptional level of integrity, energy, and enthusiasm for the next phase of the company’s lifecycle. This position will replace a retiring controller, will be the top financial role at the company, and will collaborate and work closely with the President, COO and GM.
The Controller will perform all accounting functions and financial activities of the company. You will communicate financial results to other members of the management team and PE operating advisors. You will assist with reporting to the board of directors and other key stakeholders. You will provide additional insight and analysis and should possess strong financial analysis skills, strong software skills, and strong project management experience.
This is the ideal opportunity for an accounting or FP&A manager with experience in the manufacturing industry looking to take the next step in their career or a “hands on” controller who embraces “wearing a number of hats” and has a desire to build as well as manage. There is opportunity to build out a team and progress into a CFO role.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, treasury function, accounts receivables, accounts payables, inventory/cost accounting, revenue recognition
- Maintain and manage a documented system of accounting policies and processes
- Perform monthly close and prepare daily/monthly/annual financial reports
- Assist with monthly/annual financial budget and forecasts
- Help advise on financial analyses and decision making for key operational and profitability improvement initiatives with the President, COO, and other members of the management team (as well as PE operating advisors)
- Help manage external service provider relationships with CPA firm, attorneys, insurance carriers, payroll provider, IT consultants
- Organize information and financial schedules for annual financial statement audits
- Work with the PE operating advisors and external CPA firm to ensure tax filing and reporting compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
- Track and categorize costs to help analyze and initiate cost saving directives
- Hire additional accounting/finance personnel as necessary
- Modernize transaction methods to vendors and suppliers
Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in accounting or related field required. CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.
- Ideal candidate will have at least 6-8 years of experience in accounting for a manufacturing company (or a mix of public accounting and private industry experience) with a minimum of 2-3 years in a management role
- Excellent computer skills, experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite
- Exceptional knowledge of budgeting/forecasting, inventory/cost accounting, and U.S. GAAP
- Analytical ability and desire to develop, recommend, and implement improvements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to execute to completion
