Job Summary:

The candidate will serve as the primary liaison between the technical point of contact (TPOC) and the customer, ensuring all cable plant operations align with BICSI industry standards and government regulations.
This role requires experience in both Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) installations, ensuring seamless connectivity for voice, data, and video communications systems. This position also involves managing cable inventory, coordinating project logistics, leading a team of technicians, and providing technical recommendations for infrastructure improvements.

- Cable Installation & Maintenance:
- Install, terminate, label, test, and certify CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cables following BICSI standards.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of copper and fiber cabling systems, including submarine and barge communication links.
- Execute rack, cabinet, and patch panel installations for structured cabling projects.
- Install, mount, and test RFID readers, network cabinets, and wireless access points.
- Project Management & Site Coordination:
- Conduct pre-project planning, including material inventory, estimating job hours, and workforce allocation.
- Attend meetings with Code 109.13 representatives to coordinate future building moves, remodels, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Maintain weekly material inventory and provide procurement recommendations to ensure project continuity.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all installations comply with BICSI, EIA/TIA standards, and DoD network security requirements.
- Maintain and submit project documentation, including cable plant design updates, as-built drawings, test results, and inventory reports.
- Provide weekly and monthly workload status reports to the government’s Technical POC and Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
- Leadership & Training:
- Lead a team of technicians in performing cable installations and site surveys.
- Train personnel in fiber optic splicing, troubleshooting, and cable management best practices.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in network cabling infrastructure and mentor junior team members.
- Active Top-Secret Clearance is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cable plant operations, including fiber optic and copper-based installations.
- Strong knowledge of BICSI, NEC, and EIA/TIA standards.
- Experience with network rack/cabinet installations, fiber optic splicing, and OSP conduit installation.
- Ability to interpret floor plans, network schematics, and cable routing diagrams.
- Familiarity with cable testing and certification tools, including OTDR and Fluke testers.
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Visio, and Microsoft Office for documentation and planning.
- OSHA and industry safety certifications preferred (OSHA 10/30, Confined Space, Ladder Safety).
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- BICSI Installer II Fiber or Technician Certification is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy IT infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of RFID, IP CCTV, CATV, and amplifier balancing for digital signage systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50-100 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight or elevated spaces.
- Comfortable working in a shipyard, industrial, or military installation environment.
- Occasional modifications to standard work hours may be required for project deadlines or emergency repairs.
