Concho Hearts Hospice is looking to expand our team and as a Hospice Assistant Biller, you will play a vital role in ensuring our financial health. You will be responsible for assisting with accurately billing Medicare / Medicaid for hospice services provided to patients, as well as assisting with room and board billing for patients receiving residential care. Your attention to detail, understanding of Medicare / Medicaid billing regulations, and ability to navigate complex billing systems will be critical in this role. This position is in-office, but with the potential to work from home.
Medical Biller Responsibilities :
- Patient and Insurance Verification :
Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and eligibility for home health services.
Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT codes specific to home health services.
Prepare and submit electronic or paper claims to various payers including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance companies.
Review medical records to ensure proper documentation and coding accuracy before claim submission.
Monitor the status of submitted claims, identify and address claim denials, and take necessary actions to resolve outstanding issues.
Stay updated on current home health billing regulations and ensure adherence to HIPAA guidelines.
Generate patient invoices and collect outstanding balances.
Maintain accurate patient and billing records within the electronic health record system.
Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth billing processes.
Medical Coding Knowledge :
Thorough understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines, particularly for home health services.
Expertise in using electronic health records (EHR) and billing software applications.
Ability to accurately review medical records and identify potential billing errors.
Analyze claim denials and identify trends to address recurring billing issues.
Effectively communicate with patients, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders.
