Menard Head Start Cook/Custodian
HEAD START COOK REQUIREMENTS:
- Food preparation experience is preferred;
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain Basic First Aid;
- Experience in food preparation and inventory control preferred;
- Knowledge of food preparation and storage techniques are helpful;
- Knowledge of USDA/CACFP program requirements and Head Start Performance Standards and Day Care Licensing related to food and nutrition is needed;
- Knowledge of the local, state and federal regulations pertaining to sanitation and food service;
- Knowledge of regulations associated with prevention of occupational disease and injury, including the exercise of universal precautions and the prevention of contamination.
The position of Head Start Full-Time Cook/Custodian is responsible for the operation and function of the kitchen in adherence to health and food safety codes as well as CACFP, Head Start Federal Standards and State Minimum Standards. A strong food service program is important in supporting the goals of the program. This position is responsible for ordering, preparing, serving and documentation of meals and snacks. It includes following menus and all phases of kitchen operations including inventory control. This position is also responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and functional kitchen.
