POSITION: Activity Aide
MUST be able to do weekends
SUPERVISOR: Activity Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school graduate or GED.
2. Sufficient verbal and written communication skills to perform the tasks required.
3. Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists in planning and implementing in-room programming (skilled residents, as well as self-directed).
2. Assists with planning, developing, scheduling, organizing and fulfilling a program of activities for the facility’s residents including, but not limited to, social religious, physical, intellectual and service-oriented activities, both inside and outside the facility. Posts a written monthly activity’s schedule. Activities shall be both group and individual.
3. Works flexible schedule as assigned by the Activity Director.
4. Performs the Duties of Activity Director during his or her absence from the facility.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
1. Assists with program of volunteer services, including interviewing, orienting and regularly communicating with them.
2. Maintains current and accurate documents related to the activities program, including leisure interest assessments, care plans with measurable goals, relevant progress notes and documentation of resident participation and response to activities.
3. Assists with the Activity Director, as requested, in promotion of a positive public image of the facility and community involvement within the facility.
4. Attends the interdisciplinary care plan meeting upon request of the Activity Director.
5. Participates in in-services and conducts in-services when requested, to other staff members and volunteers in activities.
6. Attends stand up meetings as needed.
7. Provides transportation services to wheelchair bound and ambulatory residents in company vehicles. This includes medical appointments and off-site activities. Training will be provided on the basic operation of the company vehicles. Must retain working knowledge of the resident van operation, wheelchair lift and all other safety features in the vehicle.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Frequently makes rounds and visits patients in their rooms.
2. Frequent pushing and pulling.
3. Occasional bending, squatting, reaching, and grasping.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES:
Duties involve direct exposure to blood and body fluids. This exposure may include infectious diseases. There may also be exposure to air contaminants (including tobacco smoke), and chemicals (including irritants) which require special handling. Attendance is mandatory at initial and periodic in-services provided by the facility regarding the prevention and control of such exposures.
