Camp Mowkawogan, in Concord NH, is seeking Unit Leaders for the summer 2025 season! Our camp is a semi traditional summer day camp that serves youth ages 5 to 12 years old, while coaching campers to build relationships, try new things, make memories, and ensure camper safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your tenure at the Y.
Unit Leaders oversee a group of same-aged campers and are responsible for planning and implementing their daily activities and schedule. Unit Leaders supervise up to eight staff (Assistants and Group Leaders) and are altogether responsible for the safety of our campers.
Responsibilities:
- Build positive nurturing relationships with campers that fosters Character building
- Build cooperative relationships with coworkers, supervisors and parents; supervision of staff team
- Develop, implement, and manage camper group activities and schedule
- Lead and participate in a variety of camp activities – arts & crafts, STEM, active games and more
- Engage positively in camp life in a variety of weather and locations – indoors, outside, aquatics area, in the rain, heat, and so much more!
- Managing camper behaviors
- Uphold the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Courage
Qualifications:
- Have or be in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in recreation, education or related field
- Have at least 2 years of day camp experience
- Experience facilitating and working with school age children in a recreation setting
- Must be willing and able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications, or currently hold
- Must be available to attend camp trainings before and during camp season
- Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work
Position Specifics:
- Camp season runs 6/23/2025 through 8/22/2025 and must be able to work a majority of the camp weeks
- Pay range $15.00 - $18.00 depending upon experience
