The Granite YMCA is seeking a Head Coach for our recreational swim team at our YMCA of Concord location. Join an impactful team that supports swimmers and community growth!
The Head Coach acts as a role model for swimmers seeking to develop the whole athlete. Reliable, positive and enthusiastic coaches implement practices for varying age and skill levels from beginner elementary school children to competitive high school athletes. Our team serves approximately 50 youth during the winter seasons, ages 6 – 19years. This position will administer team operations by scheduling, meet preparation, practice design, communication with parents and more in collaboration with the Aquatics Director.
Hiring for a September start date, with potential to start earlier, in time for the fall prep and winter season. Availability to attend weekend swim meets throughout the year is required. Prior experience coaching, as a collegiate swimmer, and USA Coaches Certification are preferred, with a background in youth sports and development.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, supervise, and implement the Sailfish Swim Team seasonal schedule
- Oversee daily management of the swim team, including all practices, age group and senior level athletic development, and dryland training
- Coordinate meet schedule and attend all meets
- Oversight of other coaches and team volunteers
- Maintain Safe Sport compliance for USA Swimming
- Promote YMCA core values, team goals and the YMCA Mission
- Responsible for the health and safety of the program participants
- Responsible for the appearance of the pool deck, inventory and setup of team supplies, equipment, and materials
- Build positive relationships with participants and maintain a welcoming and nurturing environment
- Effectively communicate with team members, parents, YMCA employees and volunteers
Position Specifics:
- FLEXIBLE scheduling available; average of 15 – 30 hours per week between practices, admin support and weekend meets
- Preferred availability to attend all or most practice times: Monday through Friday 4:00p – 7:30p
