Concord Food Co-op is a natural foods grocery store, bakery, and café with locations in Concord, NH and New London, NH. A pillar of Main St., the Co-op strives to support and enhance the New Hampshire community by only stocking ethically-sourced natural foods and through positive cooperative action in-store and in the community.
Essential Job Duties
- Responsible for opening and closing the store as required
- Supervise and manage front end staff in the absence of Customer Service Manager (CSM)
- Run a register as needed
- Assist Cashiers with customer concerns
- Answer the phone
- Handle Special Orders
- Train new employees on front end responsibilities
- “Lead by example” following Co-op policies and procedures
- Communication with staff members should be clear, direct, and respectful in a cooperative style
- Acts as Manager on Duty while overseeing the closing shift and is responsible for overall store operations
Additional Duties
- Assists in special projects, assists in other departments as needed, and performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Essential Skills
- Good customer service skills for both internal and external customers
- Strong attention to detail, good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple demands, work under time pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to be open, learn, and to take on new responsibilities/challenges
- Demonstrate objectivity, neutrality, and calmness under pressure
- Ability to take direction and work independently
- Should be a team player and results-oriented
Essential Mental & Physical Requirements
- Must have good analytical ability and be proficient in math
- Works with guidance from Customer Service Manager
- Performs a variety of tasks as dictated by front end demands
- Relates information to diverse groups both verbally and in writing
- Makes independent decisions
- Standing for long periods, bending, walking, reaching, and sitting
- Ability to climb up and down stepladders and stairs daily
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed throughout the day
Experience and Educational Requirements
- There are no educational requirements, though grocery or natural foods experience is a plus.
- One year cashier experience required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Other Qualifications
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA & other federal, state & local standards - including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA & other federal, state and local standards
- Compliance with all personnel policies
