This position handles entry-level insurance claims under close supervision through the life-cycle of a claim including but not limited to: investigation, evaluation and claim resolution. The purpose of this position is to provide service to agents, insureds and others to ensure claims resolve accurately and timely.
Associate Claims Adjusters will receive extensive hands-on training, as well as educational resources to gain a strong foundation of industry knowledge, allowing them to excel in this role and preparing them for future roles within the company.

Essential Functions
- Investigate, evaluate and settle entry-level insurance claims
- Study insurance policies, endorsements and forms to develop foundational knowledge on Company insurance products
- Learn and comply with Company claim handling procedures
- Develop entry level claim negotiation and settlement skills
- Build skills to effectively serve the needs of agents, insureds and others
- Meet and communicate with claimants, legal counsel and third parties
- Develop specialized skills including but not limited to estimating and use of designated computer-based programs for loss adjustment
- Study, obtain and maintain adjuster’s license(s), if required by state within the timeline established by the Company or legal requirements
- Maintain punctual attendance in accordance with assigned work schedule
- Travel, attend seminars and attend other training classes as required
- Complete relevant education programs identified and paid for by the company
- Assist with other duties as assigned upon request
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Apply basic problem resolution skills and effective interpersonal skills
- Write reports and compose correspondence
- Maintain a professional demeanor and image in accordance with Company policies and expectations
- Organize assigned work
- Assemble information, develop opinions and clearly express decisions using sound reasoning and judgment
- Read, interpret and respond to documents such as insurance policies, procedure manuals and legal documents at a foundational level
- Capacity to read and develop understanding of personal and business financial documents
- Accurately solve mathematical problems, including basic geometry (area and volume) and financial statements (such as accuracy in sums and unit costs)
- Proficient in PC Windows environment
- Maintain confidentiality and data security
- Demonstrate the potential for advancement
- Ability to drive an automobile, possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record consistent with the Company’s underwriting guidelines for coverage
- Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required.
This is both a sedentary and active role and includes but is not limited to the following physical demands:
- Remain in a stationary position for a constant period of the time.
- Occasionally move about, ascend or descend a ladder, and/or traverse a loss site during the course of an investigation
- Occasionally move or transport up to 55 pounds
- Occasionally observe, inspect, and assess objects at close or long distances
- Frequently communicate with individuals inside and outside the Company to exchange accurate information
- Frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
- Occasionally move about inside the office to collaborate with co-workers, attend meetings, and access file cabinets, and office machinery
