Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for ambulatory surgical and pain management patients, from simple to complex, with multi-system issues in a safe and therapeutic environment. The RN uses knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan, assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interprets information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. The RN engages in caring relationships with patient's families and significant others. Works collaboratively with other health care workers, and uses sound judgment while performing nursing and medical interventions. Reports to the Director and/or Resource Nurse. May participate in supervision of the Surgical Technologist and Patient Care Coordinator.
Education
Associates Degree (A.D.)or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN), from an accredited School of Nursing.
Certification, Registration & Licensure
Certification required to obtain: BCLS and ACLS certification within 3 months of hire
Licensure required: Current New Hampshire State Registered Nurse license.
Experience
Evidence of experience in working effectively and positively with patients, care providers, and the multi-disciplinary team. Evidence of the ability to perform as a member of a team.
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients effectively and safely according to facility policy.
- Teaches the patient and/or significant other(s) about the plan of care. Prepares patients and/or significantother(s) to manage their care after discharge.
- Manages the care of simple to complex multi-system patients by using time and resources efficiently.
- Administers medications effectively, efficaciously and safely.
- Gathers data through history taking and physical assessment and interprets data in order to plan andimplement interventions to meet patient care needs.
- Develops, evaluates and revises patient's plan of care and nursing actions in response to patient's needs.
- Bases nursing actions by applying principles of purposeful, organized thinking to make sound clinicaljudgment/decisions.
- Participates and engages in center activities.
- Documents care provided and patient's progress toward attainment of desired outcomes.
- Directs and supervises others (nursing students, orientees, surgical technologists) in the performance ofdelegated nursing activities.
- Leads the health care team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
